The seminar will include dances from eastern Crete. Emphasis will be placed on the "stiacos pidihtos," which was registered in 2018 in the national inventory of intangible cultural heritage. Consequently, the local dance dialect of the dance, as danced in the village of Chametzis Sitia, will also be taught. There will be the presence of old dancers who will show us the dance dialect of the stiacos pidihtos dance in the village of Chametzis, as well as musical accompaniment by local artists who will further enhance this activity. If there is interest from the participants, there will also be a brief educational approach to dances from the rest of Crete. The seminar is open to all levels.

BIOGRAPHY

     Nikos Roussakis was born in 1975 in Skopi, Sitia. His relationship with dance starts from his school years, in 1982, with his first dance teacher Theocharis Xyrouhakis. As a student he participated in the children's dance group of the Lyceum of Hellenides with Katie Michelaki as dance teacher, thus participating in many dance events. Since 2008 he officially teaches dances at the Lyceum of Hellenes of Sitia.

     He has been extensively involved in the research of the dance tradition of Eastern Crete, and especially the dance idiom of the Steak Jump. She has had years of collaboration with the traditional dance school "Terpsichore" in Teriesti, Italy. He has also been a dance teacher at the Lyceum of Greek Women of Karpathos and at the "Omonia" club of Aperios, staging two major performances on the island.

     He has attended seminars on the morphological method of teaching Greek traditional dances, with the teacher Vassilis Karfi. In addition, she has attended seminars on dances from the rest of Greece and Asia Minor with Christos Theologos, Vassilis Karfi and Nikos Koufakis as instructors. She has participated in numerous performances and cultural events of the Lyceum of Hellenic Women of Sitia, curating the traditional dances.
